In 2024, Hecter Agri Tech partnered with the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation to advance modern farming practices through the establishment of greenhouse facilities at the Ministry’s headquarters. As part of this initiative, we designed and constructed three greenhouses, each measuring 40 by 8 meters, equipped to provide a controlled environment for crop production.
The project was aimed at demonstrating the benefits of climate-smart agriculture in Somalia, where farmers often face challenges from drought, pests, and unpredictable weather. These greenhouses now serve as training and research hubs, enabling farmers, students, and agronomists to gain hands-on experience with greenhouse farming, pest control, and modern cultivation techniques.
Beyond production, the project contributes to farmer capacity building, improved food security, and the promotion of sustainable practices. By combining infrastructure development with knowledge transfer, this initiative has become a model for integrating technology into agriculture and strengthening Somalia’s path toward resilient farming systems.
